Privacy Policy

Last updated: 12 June 2026

This policy explains what personal data Gybio ("Gybio", "we", "us") collects, how we use it, and your rights. Gybio is a web app that helps you identify loose LEGO® bricks and match them to your own sets. If you have any questions, contact us at hello@gybio.co.uk.

1. What we collect

  • Account data: your email address (used to sign you in via a one-time code).
  • Your collection: the LEGO sets you add and your sorting progress.
  • Subscription data: if you subscribe to Gybio Pro, our payment provider (Stripe) handles your card details. We never see or store your full card number. We store a subscription status and a Stripe customer reference.
  • Photos: when you scan a brick, the photo is sent to our recognition provider, Brickognize, to identify the part. Brickognize may retain these images to improve its recognition model. Gybio does not store your scan photos on its own servers.
  • Technical data: basic, standard server logs (e.g. IP address, browser type) generated by our hosting provider for security and reliability.

2. How we use it

  • To provide the service — sign-in, saving your sets, syncing across your devices.
  • To process subscriptions and manage your Gybio Pro entitlement.
  • To identify scanned bricks.
  • To keep the service secure and working.

We do not sell your data or use it for advertising.

3. Service providers we use

We share the minimum necessary data with trusted providers who process it on our behalf:

  • Supabase — secure database & sign-in (stores your email, sets, and progress).
  • Stripe — payment processing for subscriptions.
  • Resend — sending your sign-in code emails.
  • Brickognize — brick recognition from your scan photo; may retain images to improve its recognition model.
  • Rebrickable — the source of LEGO set and part data.
  • Vercel — hosting the app and website.
  • PostHog — privacy-friendly product analytics: anonymous usage events to understand how features are used and improve Gybio. EU-hosted, no advertising or cross-site tracking.
  • Meta Pixel (Meta Platforms Ireland Ltd) — only if you accept advertising cookies. With your consent, we share a limited set of events (for example page views, account registration and subscription) with Meta to measure our advertising and build audiences. You can decline, and change your choice any time via “Cookie settings” in the footer. See Meta's data policy.

4. Storage & security

Your account data is stored in a secure database with access controls so each user can only access their own data. Connections are encrypted (HTTPS). Some data is also cached locally on your device for offline use and speed.

5. Data retention

We keep your account data for as long as your account exists. If you delete your account, or ask us to delete your data, we remove your personal data (subject to any records we must keep for legal or accounting reasons, such as payment records).

6. Your rights

Under UK data protection law you have the right to access, correct, delete, or export your personal data, and to object to or restrict certain processing. To exercise any of these, email hello@gybio.co.uk and we'll respond within a reasonable time. You also have the right to complain to the UK Information Commissioner's Office (ICO).

7. Cookies & local storage

Gybio uses local storage on your device to keep you signed in, to store your sets and progress, and for anonymous product analytics (PostHog) — which is stored locally rather than in cookies. These are essential/first-party and work whatever you choose below.

Advertising cookies: if you accept them, we load the Meta Pixel to measure our advertising. We do not load it unless you accept, and you can withdraw consent at any time via the “Cookie settings” link in the footer (or your browser settings). Rejecting leaves the site and app fully usable.

8. Children

Gybio isn't directed at children under 13. If you're under 13, please use Gybio only with a parent or guardian's involvement, and don't create an account without their consent.

9. Changes

We may update this policy from time to time. We'll update the date above when we do; material changes will be highlighted where appropriate.
